Waldorf resident Daniel Jerome Ball, 54, who was already wanted for previous offenses in Southern Maryland, is facing multiple charges following the investigation into a theft late last month.

Officers from the Charles County Sheriff's Office were called shortly before noon on Friday, March 29 to the 3000 block of Waldorf Market Place, when a customer asked to see some jewelry, and unexpectedly ran from the store and fled in a waiting vehicle.

A BOLO was issued, and the vehicle was stopped on Leonardtown Road near Forest Knolls Place, while Ball was a passenger. He proceeded to flee into a nearby house where he was quickly arrested and the stolen ring was recovered.

Further investigation by the sheriff's office and investigators from the Southern Maryland Information Center linked Ball to previous thefts at five other businesses, and he had multiple outstanding warrants out for his arrest.

Ball was charged with multiple counts of thefts and "numerous" other offenses, according to officials on Thursday afternoon. A judge ordered this week that Ball be held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond.
